ILEX Level 2 Legal Secretary Certificate Distance Learning Course

COURSE OVERVIEW 

The ILEX courses will allow legal secretaries to train further and perhaps eventually become solicitors themselves. Souters is a City and Guilds centre and therefore able to offer the ILEX courses in association with both organisations.

Souters offers these courses not only in full time and part-time time slots that are convenient to students, but also offers it on our distance learning programme.

The course is structured and tailored to suit the individual student and enables them to benefit from the professional guidance of a qualified and experienced tutor. 

COURSE OBJECTIVES

To provide the student with a good basic understanding of work in a legal office and practical experience of performing the type of routine functions which are required of a legal secretary.


COURSE STRUCTURE

At the beginning of the course, students are invited to attend an induction class to meet with their tutor and to design together, a suitable programme for completion of the training.

Thereafter, students are encouraged to liaise with their tutor on a regular basis to ensure that they are making good progress.

Students should allow up to six months to complete each level comfortably.


There are two units in this course: -  

1. Legal Word Processing
2. Working in the Legal Environment.

The process can take several years so legal secretarial students can be employed throughout this period of study allowing them to also gain valuable on-the-job experience.

The City and Guilds ILEX qualification is recognised in the legal sector both in the UK and internationally.

A good level of the English language and good IT skills
