Course Description
Preparation to undertake a job role to include the recording of all financial transactions undertaken by a company; you will gain a clear grounding in the basic principles of book-keeping including learning how to maintain a cash book, petty cash book and reconcile a bank statement. Successful completion of this course will enable you to work towards further qualifications with QCF credits included. This course is also known as our Business Finance Foundation course
Course Objective

To provide a thorough and clear understanding of the basic principles of book-keeping.

To provide basic financial knowledge for a variety of students including school leavers, office staff wanting an understanding of double entry book-keeping or business people generally.
Course Format
Where many providers use automated, PC based training for this unit, here at Souters, this course is led by a live tutor. It is important to understand the fundament of double entry book-keeping at this stage as this can affect your speed of apprehension as you progress to higher levels in accounting. For this there is no substitute to a live tutor.
Course Content
• The completion of financial documents such as invoices and credit notes
• The recording of cash and credit transactions in books of original entry
• The preparing of a bank reconciliation
• Understanding the petty cash imprest systems and trial balances
• Preparing a trial balance from raw data
• The creation of straightforward Profit & Loss and Balance sheet statements from trial balance
